Additional information

If you’re aged between 14 and 18 and love birds, nature, conservation or ornithology, then here’s a great opportunity to join us in Thetford for this amazing annual event. Sponsored by the Cameron Bespolka Trust and hosted by the British Trust for Ornithology at their Headquarters, this event aims to inspire young naturalists with great experiences and special insights into birds and conservation. Supported by youth organisations ‘Next Generation Birders’ & ‘A Focus on Nature’, BTO Bird Camp 2016 will be a full weekend of birding, ringing, nest finding and networking! Participants will have direct access to a range of BTO staff who will accompany them on all the activities and will give a range of talks throughout the weekend.

We’ll be staying in our own camping village at a site in Thetford Forest known for its regular Otter, Kingfisher and even Lesser Spotted Woodpecker sightings! In addition to enjoying the local wildlife, we’ll venture to the Suffolk coast for a private visit to Landguard Bird Observatory and stop off at reliable sites for special species like Stone Curlew, Marsh Harrier & Bittern. You’ll be accompanied throughout the weekend by an experienced team of birders, naturalists & scientists from BTO, NGB, AFON and beyond, all eager to share their knowledge and skills.
