Become a BBS mentor in Scotland

We are looking for bird-watchers to act as mentors to new volunteers.

With the generous support of SNH and the SOC, BTO Scotland are working hard to encourage more people to take part in the Breeding Bird Survey. Many suitable volunteers need a little support and encouragement as they get started.

We would be very pleased to hear from skilled bird-watchers who might have a little time to help out with this training programme.

If you would be keen to help the new generation of BBS volunteers and to help us increase the coverage of this important survey then please consider sharing your skills and expertise with us. We will provide you with all of the support and encouragement that you need.

Travel expenses are available for volunteer mentors so, for example, if you would be interested in mentoring new volunteers in parts of Scotland that don’t currently have many volunteers we’d love to hear from you. Just think of the beautiful parts of the country that you could be visiting and also helping to monitor!

If you would like to learn more about what is involved in mentoring, please call us on 01786 466560 or email whatsup [at] bto.org
