Event Information

Each winter, Northern Ireland becomes home to over 30,000 pale-bellied brent geese that migrate here from their breeding grounds in the high Canadian Arctic. Over 75% of the breeding population overwinter on Strangford Lough and the nearby coastline - just astonishing! Join this online event to find out more about these extraordinary geese, as well as the wintering swans and waders that visit the shores and loughs of Northern Ireland. We’ll run through how to identify these wintering species in a fun, interactive workshop suitable for those new to bird identification and those more experienced. All you need is a notepad!

This event is hosted by BTO's Ripple NI project and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

Zoom joining instructions will be emailed two days before the event.
