Join BTO Youth and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust for a wildlife and wintering wildfowl walk around the Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve, guided by Youth Representatives Jasmine and Imogen.

Join Youth Representatives Jasmine and Imogen for a leisurely walk around the fantastic Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve, a Wildlife Trust reserve. The event will begin with a short introduction to the reserve by the on site Education Officer, with insight into the wintering duck and wildfowl species located in the area, also providing some basic bird identification skills.

This event is focused at beginners, however all levels of birder are welcome. By sharing knowledge and experiences, attendees can help build on the local birding community. Attendees are welcome to stick around after the walk to chat over lunch and further enjoy some time outdoors.

The total walk length is approximately 2km, with some stops at bird hides on the way. Paths will be mostly flat with some bumps, and are considered wheelchair accessible. All terrain mobility scooters are available for hire in advance from the Education Centre - please contact the reserve for more details. Toilets are available at the start of the walk, and plenty of car and bicycle parking can be located onsite.

This event is ran with the support of BTO and The Wildlife Trusts, and in partnership with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

Please note that this event is free to attend and open primarily to 13–25-year-olds. Participants under 18 will need to fill in a consent form with their parent(s)/carer(s) and send this to BTO before the event.
