About our collections
We hold some of the most important ornithological material in the UK in our Library and Archives. You can find more information about our fascinating collections here.
Our Archives contain personal papers of key figures in ornithology, and photographic materials with a particular emphasis on early bird photography. Alongside these, we hold BTO’s organisational records and the outputs of projects and surveys.
The Chris Mead Library holds over 7,000 books about birds and ornithology, plus scientific journals and regional material such as county bird and observatory reports
