This sunburst shows the communities of birds and other wildlife recorded in BTO Garden Birdwatch gardens.

Click on the labelled slices to open up the community within each category or click on the centre circle to return to the top level. For example, clicking on 'invertebrates' and then 'butterflies/moths' will show the butterfly species recorded, the size of the slice corresponding to the reporting rate or count data being shown.

Participants record the maximum number of individuals seen at any one time in their garden. We then average these counts across sites to calculate the average maximum weekly count. The reporting rate is a measure of the proportion of gardens which observed that species during a particular week.
