Warblers on the way

24 Aug 2012 Sedge Warbler by Frazers Photography

Several species of warbler have already begun their southward migration. Sedge Warbler - such as the one pictured - and Willow Warbler are among the species appearing at south coast migration hotspots in numbers at the moment. On average, Chiffchaff moves later so over the coming weeks, you are much more likely to encounter Chiffchaffs than Willow Warblers away from coastal sites. The calls of both species, and lots of other identification pointers, are available in this BTO ID video.
