New order

11 May 2012 Pied Flycatcher by David Cookson

Not the 80s pop group but an update to BirdTrack's taxonomic order! BirdTrack follows the British Ornithologists's Union taxonomic list of birds; BOU makes some changes to the British List every year, and conducted a major reorganisation of the non-passerines in 2002 and the passerines in 2010. The recent changes, for example, saw the Spotted and Pied Flycatcher genera being separated by the robins, nightingales and allies. Whilst many local bird clubs immediately adopted the changes, BirdTrack needed to delay the implementation until now so as to avoid altering things mid way through Bird Atlas 2007-11.
