Better late than never

18 May 2012 Turtle Dove by Jill Pakenham

We've received lots of anecdotal reports of late-arriving migrants in the last few weeks, and the BirdTrack results for several summer visitors certainly supports these observations. Migratory species that usually arrive in mid April were the most severely delayed by the poor weather across western Europe, with the reporting rates for Turtle Dove and Lesser Whitethroat amongst the most striking. Hopefully the warmer, more settled weather forecast for the next few days will allow such species to make up for lost time.
