Siskins on the move

23 Sep 2011 Siskin by John Harding

Whilst American shorebirds have dominated the rare bird news in recent days, a far more familiar species has also been hitting the headlines. A record count of 2,129 Siskins passed southwest over Carnoustie, Angus on 7 September and this has been mirrored by a relatively early increase in the Siskin reporting rate (based on the proportion of your complete lists that include Siskin). If you'd like to record the direction of flight of any visible migrants you see, information about how to do so can be found here.
