Reed Bunting and Skylark

30 Sep 2011 Reed Bunting by Nick Stacey

Having been rather inconspicuous since July, Reed Buntings are being recorded more frequently again. The rise in detection rate of this and other species (like Skylark - always worth a mention at this time of year!) is in part because their extremely furtive behaviour towards the end of the breeding season is no longer necessary. Some Skylarks are starting to sing again too, and both species are on the move right now, further increasing the likelihood of them being noticed.
