Wader wonderland
10 Jun 2011Breeding waders are sadly in decline across many areas of Britain and Ireland, so it was really uplifting to visit a remaining wader stronghold on the Uists (Outer Hebrides) last weekend. Redshank, Dunlin and Snipe 'singing' from fence posts and rocks - with a rich backdrop of flowering machair and calling Corncrakes - was an unforgettable experience; it also provided the opportunity to gather lots of exciting BirdTrack records!
