Red-flanked Bluetail

Whilst BirdTrack is primarily concerned with Britain and Ireland's more regular species, there's no denying that many of us get a thrill out of the more unusual. Last autumn there were no fewer than 30 records of the one time ultra-rarity, Red-flanked Bluetail. Spring birds are still few and far between though, with just four previous spring records. The last one was 4 years ago, on exactly the same date as this bird appeared in Dorset (2 April)! How long before BirdTrack is producing reporting rates for Red-flanked Bluetail, I wonder?
