Fulmar
Fulmarus glacialis
A widespread breeder around the coast of Britain and Ireland. This is a good indicator species to assess coverage in the more remote parts of Scotland and Ireland. In the winter, Fulmars move away from the breeding areas for a short time and then return during the late winter period. In some areas they stay close to the breeding grounds all year.
Note that the 2007-11 maps (below left) reflect only records submitted so far online and paper records loaded. We will load more paper records at the end of each fieldwork season. Check back soon to see how the picture develops. And why not take part and help fill the gaps.
