Help the Nightingale Appeal

If you are worried about the Nightingale and would like to help our research, you can help by making a donation in the following ways:

Make a regular donation:

You can set up a regular Direct Debit online.
Set up a regular gift by printing off and returning the Direct Debit form.

Make a single donation:

Make a one-off donation through our online payment system.
Make a donation by card payment over the phone by calling the Fundraising department on 01842 750050.
Send a cheque to Nightingale Appeal, BTO, The Nunnery, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 2PU, (made payable to British Trust for Ornithology).
Join the Nightingale Supporters Group by committing £300 or more to help our work on Nightingales. The Group will be acknowledged as sponsors of the Nightingale in the published Bird Atlas 2007 -11, with all individuals in the Group acknowledged within the main body of the Atlas. Make a donation by text :

BTO receives 100% of every donation made by text through justgiving, there are no fees and it's even free for you to send the text message from all networks. All you have to do is text the appeal code NIGL11 along with your donation amount to 70070. You can donate £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10, giving up to a maximum of £30 per month. We can even claim gift aid - just follow the instructions on the reply text you will receive confirming your donation.

Example: to make a donation to BTO's Nightingale Appeal text NIGL11 and the amount in pounds to 70070 e.g. NIGL11 £5

Join the Nightingale Supporters Group

Some BTO supporters have already realised the need to carry out this work on Nightingales and have formed ‘The Nightingale Supporters Group’. Each have contributed between £300 and £1000 to ensure that we can make a start on planning for the survey in 2012 and so that we can commit to buying geolocators, at a cost of £100 each, for the tagging project.

If you are concerned about Nightingales and might consider joining ‘The Nightingale Supporters Group’, then please contact Rachel Irvine to discuss this further, or you can pledge your support by sending a cheque made payable to the ‘British Trust for Ornithology’. We can also accept card payments over the phone if you prefer.

The Group will be acknowledged as sponsors of the Nightingale in Bird Atlas 2007-11 on the pages realting to the Nightingale, with all supporters individually acknowledged within the body of the Atlas.

You can also help by buying the Nightingale CD

If you don't already own a copy of 'Nightingales: A Celebration' CD it is now being rereleased. These historic and modern recordings of Nightingale song are a fabulous listen for fans of the Nightingale. Nightingales: A Celebration is a remastered, full-length CD which contains high-quality modern and historic recordings of the species’ distinctive song.The recordings were first released in 1998 and the CD has now been reissued to raise money for the BTO’s Nightingale Appeal.

You can purchase your copy for only £10, plus £2.50 p&p by:

Calling the Fundraising Team on 01842 750050 and make a card payment OR
Sending a cheque for £12.50, made payable to ‘British Trust for Ornithology’ to: Nightingale CD, BTO, The Nunnery, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 2PU.

All profits from the CD will go to research on Nightingales and other migrant birds.
