"Ageing and Sexing Quiz"
from the January 2001 Annual
Ringers' Conference at Swanwick
The quiz was compiled by ringer and BTO
staff member Graham Austin using photographs and expertise supplied by
friends and colleagues. Pictures in the quiz remain the
copyright of the individuals credited.
Frequently handled and infrequently handled species are included. Some
straightforward, some not so. Hopefully fun, hopefully educational. You
are invited to download and view the quiz and use it without alteration.
The quiz is available for download as self-extracting files containing
MS PowerPoint 2000 presentations in three parts covering Passerines (4Mb),
Waders & Wildfowl (2Mb) and other Non-Passerines (5Mb). (The large file
sizes are necessary to show with sufficient clarity the features required
for identification.)
To download these files click on the links below. This will download
self-extracting files to your hard drive, usually into c:\temp. From Windows
Explorer double click on these .exe files to extract the MS PowerPoint
presentation to your hard drive.
If you do not have a copy of MS PowerPoint, or have an older version,
then the PowerPoint Viewer is available as freeware on many computer magazine
cover disks or alternatively available as a free download from Microsoft
- go to http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/9798/ppview97.aspx
Graham is on the lookout for new photos for future quizzes. If you have
any of a similar quality to those used here, and you would be happy to
allow Graham to use them for this purpose, please email him in the first
instance graham.austin@bto.org.
