Factors affecting the survival of
Birds of Conservation Concern

by David Leech

6. Future research

The size of a population is determined by the combined influence of emigration, immigration survival rates and productivity. Data concerning all these variables can be collected under the Intergrated Population Monitoring Programme. The use of modelling techniques allows the relationship between variation in these demographic rates and changes in population size to be investigated.
