Bird Survey Taster Days
Would you like to get out more, go to new places and learn more about birds? Recording birds is an ideal way to do this, yet many people feel they lack the skills or experience to take part. But you can get involved at many different levels and training is available.
Thanks to the Building Bird Monitoring in Scotland project we are able to offer a range of free training events to people interested in volunteering. Whether you’d like to brush up on your skills or have never taken part, a “Survey Taster Day” will give you more confidence.
A variety of courses are on offer, covering surveys of differing skill levels and also bird identification. You can learn about different types of recording, from submitting casual records of the birds you might see when out hillwalking or walking the dog, right through to detailed regular surveys of a local study area. There are even special events for landowners and land managers, hillwalkers and gardeners. Most courses combine time outdoors with classroom sessions. Once you have the hang of the basics, there’s the chance to go outside and put your new-found skills to the test, with the help of a friendly expert.
Bird recording in Scotland really needs you. Please click on the link to see the current training events programme.
