Sponsored nest boxes for your wildlife

Can you think of somewhere in your neighbourhood which will benefit from having high quality nest boxes? A park perhaps, or school playing fields, church grounds or hospice gardens? If so, please read on. The new NestingSpaces™ scheme can help you make it happen!

It was Highgate resident Maurice Melzak who first had the idea of nesting boxes sponsored by local estate agents. He successfully organised sponsorship for boxes in his local Waterlow Park and subsequently arranged for boxes in Highgate Woods too. Maurice's ideas and enthusiasm have led to the NestingSpaces™ scheme so that his example can be followed nationally!

NestingSpaces™ brings together local people and businesses with the shared aim of putting up nest boxes for wildlife in green spaces. Under the scheme, there are four straightforward steps to take …

First identify a special local green space where you would like to put up some top-quality nest boxes. Ideally it should be a public place, like a park, but it might be somewhere ‘semi-public’, like a school or church grounds.

Then ask the owner for permission to put up boxes. You might need to ask the parish council, school head or churchwarden, for example.

Next approach a local business and ask them to help you by sponsoring the boxes under the NestingSpaces™ scheme. Choose a business closely identified with your local community, such as an estate agents, shop, local manufacturer, solicitors or accountants. They are asked to pay just £200 for our specially-discounted pack of premium quality nest boxes, including nine of the Official Nest Boxes of National Nest Box Week - see more about the full pack below. They’ll also receive an official NestingSpaces™ Sponsor’s Certificate, confirming their support for the scheme.

Send us a completed Application Form. The pack of nest boxes will be delivered to you, or the address you specify, along with full instructions for fixing and siting the boxes in place.
