The Jackdaw is the smallest member of the crow family to be found in Britain and the only one which nests in holes. The overall appearance is of a stocky black bird with grey colouration to the back of the head. Adults, though not juveniles, have a startling pale eye.

Large nest box with 150mm hole.
Height: At least 5m above ground – as high as possible
The nest is made of sticks and lined with soft material such as hair.
Egg-laying starts between early April and late May. One brood.
4 to 6 eggs. Pale blue with speckling
Incubation 17-18 days
Nestlings fledge after 30-35 days.
