Garden BirdWatch goes Welsh!
The BTO/CJ
Garden BirdWatch survey has produced an information leaflet in the
Welsh language in order to reach a wider audience in Wales and to
gain a better understanding of Welsh birds and how they use gardens.
"There are currently just under 400 people
across Wales sending in simple weekly reports of the birds they
record in their gardens. This gives us good information for Wales
as a whole but we now want to have a regional breakdown of the most
common garden birds for each of the Welsh counties. To this end
we have produced a Welsh language leaflet to try and get more people
involved across Wales," says Mike Toms, BTO/CJ Garden
BirdWatch Coordinator.
The BTO scheme needs people in Wales to record
the occurrence of birds in their gardens. It has been running its
Garden BirdWatch survey since 1995 and has highlighted changes in
the use of the nation’s gardens by different bird species.
To receive a free information pack, phone on 01842 750050 or write
to GBW, Room 42, British Trust for Ornithology, The Nunnery, Thetford,
Norfolk IP24 2PU.
Garden BirdWatch yn Gymraeg!
Mae arolwg
y BTO/CJ Garden BirdWatch wedi cynhyrchu taflen wybodaeth yn yr
iaith Gymraeg er mwyn apelio at gynulleidfa ehangach yng Nghymru
a cheisio cynnyddu'r dealltwriaeth o adar Cymru a'r modd y maent
yn defnyddio gerddi.
"Ar hyn o bryd mae oddeutu 400 o unigolion
dros Gymru yn anfon adroddiadau wythnosol syml o'r adar a gofnodir
yn eu gerddi.Mae hyn yn darparu gwybodaeth gwych am Gymru gyfan
ond ein nod nawr yw cael ystadegau rhanbarthol am y rhywogaethau
cyffredin o holl siroedd unigol Cymru.I'r perwyl hwn 'rydym wedi
cynhyrchu taflen Gymraeg er mwyn ceisio cael mwy o bobl dros Gymru
yn rhan o'r arolwg," meddai Mike Toms,Trefnydd y BTO/CJ
Garden BirdWatch.
Mae cynllun y BTO yn gofyn i bobl yng Nghymru i gofnodi'r rhywogaethau
hynny sydd yn ymddangos yn eu gerddi.Dechreuwyd yr arolwg yn 1995
ac ers hynny mae wedi pwysleisio y newid defnydd a wna rhai rhywogaethau
o'n gerddi. I dderbyn pecyn gwybodaeth yn rhad ac am ddim ffoniwch
01842 750050 neu ysgrifennwch at GBW, Room 42, British Trust for
Ornithology, The Nunnery, Thetford, Norfolk IP24 2PU.
