Breeding Swallow Survey

We are grateful to birdwatchers who monitored the nests of Swallows this summer in 2003.

We will be collecting information on breeding Swallows again this year. The data submission form is now available by clicking on the button to the left.

Swallows, like other migrant birds, face many threats on their travels, from starving as they cross the expanding Sahara, being eaten in Nigeria or general habitat degredation in many countries. In the UK there are suggestions that a lack of nesting places and fewer flies may also be causing problems.

To teach the next generation about migration, why not buy the children's books "Rusty Flies South" and "Rusty's Return", the stories of a year in the life of Rusty the Swallow.
