INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the BTO/CJ Garden BirdWatch Shortest Day Survey, run in conjunction with the Today Programme on BBC Radio 4. As its name suggests, the survey took place on the shortest day - 21st December and set out to find out more about the order in which birds arrive at garden feeding stations early in the morning.

The online entry pages are now closed.

Preliminary results from the survey were posted on this site on Thursday 23rd December and additional results will follow in due course. You might also like to find out a bit more about which birds are likely to visit your garden and about how birds keep warm during the winter. By doing the survey online, we have been able to gather and analyse the results very quickly. Thank you to everybody who took part.
