| Name |
|
| Graham Appleton |
| Position |
| Head of Fundraising & Publicity |
| Role |
| The Unit combines publicising the achievements of the BTO
with attracting the funds needed to support its work. |
| Qualifications |
| After completing a degree in Mathematics, I had an eighteen-year
career as a teacher, latterly as a senior manager. I am a trained
bird ringer. |
| Research Interests/ Responsibilities |
| Although I am interested in the broad sweep of
the BTO’s work, my particular interest is in migration.
I worked with Jim Flegg in the development of Time to Fly
and have led the BTO's Promotions and Marketing Working Group.
I have recently managed the BTO’s Resource Centre Project,
including the building programme, and worked with Rob Fuller
to develop the funding strategy for Bird Atlas 2007-11. |
| Other Information |
| I have been a BTO member since I was at school
and am passionately interested in the work of the Trust. I have
been involved in many BTO surveys and spend a significant amount
of my holidays looking for Black-tailed Godwits, with my wife
Dr Jennifer Gill. |
