About BirdWeb
Over the last 40 years, the United Kingdom has become a world leader in bird monitoring and survey work, involving skilled volunteers collecting field data supported by professional input into monitoring scheme design and reporting.
The British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) are working together to create BirdWeb - the place where you can find on-line information about bird monitoring and survey work and the status of the UK's birds. It is also where you can get involved with surveying birds, whether you watch them in your garden or in the wider countryside as a skilled birdwatcher. Birdweb provides links to bird surveys where you can contribute on-line as well as view the latest on-line results from these and other surveys.
A substantial proportion of bird monitoring in the UK involves the BTO and the RSPB, often strengthened through partnerships with other organisations including the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Scottish Natural Heritage, Natural England, the Countryside Council for Wales, the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland, the Rare Breeding Birds Panel and many Bird Clubs.
