Species page layout
Each page contains four maps: Breeding Atlas I map, Breeding Atlas II map, Change map of differences between both breeding atlases and Winter Atlas map. In addition, if both Breeding I and II are available, there is a link that allows you to compare on one page (side by side) the two Breeding Atlas maps.
There is also a table of change at the bottom of each page, detailing the percentage change in species coverage (number of squares recorded) between the two Breeding Atlases, for both Britain and Ireland.
Confidential Species
Certain species (below) were surveyed and their locations and breeding status considered confidential. Any species included in the atlas books that had grid squares moved or only 100km numbers displayed, have not been included. The confidentiallity of these species is currently being assessed on a species by species basis, and they will be included as and when a decision is made (currently 44 species: May 7, 2004).
