Wren Troglodytes troglodytes

Wren by Jill Pakenham

One of our most widespread and ubiquitous species. A good indicator of coverage of a range of habitats as this vocal songster proclaims its presence wherever fieldworkers visit.

Previous Atlases show little difference between breeding and winter distributions . Will this be the case again today?

Note that the 2007-11 maps (below left) reflect only records submitted so far online . We will update these with records from paper forms at the end of each fieldwork season. Check back soon to see how the picture develops. And why not take part and help fill the gaps.
