| Name |
|
| Graham Appleton |
| Position |
| Director of Communications |
| Role |
The department promotes work of the BTO, looks after members
and volunteers and finds the funding for research and surveys.
I have been working for the BTO since 1997 and was Head of
Fundraising and Publicity until 2008. |
| Qualifications |
| After completing a degree in Mathematics, I had an eighteen-year
career as a teacher, latterly as a senior manager. I am a trained
bird ringer. |
| Research Interests/ Responsibilities |
| Although I am interested in the broad sweep of
the BTO’s work, my particular interest is in migration.
I worked with Jim Flegg in the development of Time to Fly.
Over the next few years I hope that I can help to achieve significant
growth in the membership, volunteer-base, profile and outreach
of the BTO. |
| Other Information |
| I have been a BTO member since I was at school
and am passionately interested in the work of the Trust. I have
been involved in many BTO surveys and spend a significant amount
of my holiday time looking for Black-tailed Godwits, with my
wife Dr Jennifer Gill. |
